SHIPPING POLICY

Tamerx Diesel Products ships via UPS Ground. Next day air shipping can be arranged for a reasonable price of anywhere from $50.00 - $100.00 depending on the weight of the product and your location. We will do everything we can to make sure that you get the service you need. We understand how important it is to receive your order as quickly as possible.
In most cases Tamerx Diesel Products only needs one address, as long as your product is shipping to the same location as your billing information. In order to eliminate credit card fraud, your billing information must match the credit card you provide.

The terms, conditions, and details of our warranty vary from product to product. Specific warranty details can be found below.

Tamerx Diesel Products provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.

Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".

If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). Be sure to have your order number and/or other relevant order information ready so we can easily locate your order and resolve your issue as quickly as possible. From that point, we will review with you any troubleshooting steps that may need to be taken and other areas or systems that can be checked to rule out external problems contributing to your part's issue. If a replacement is determined to be necessary, we will then arrange for your replacement part to ship out ASAP and issue any necessary return shipping labels and/or documents.

As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

"This Product Doesn't Have a Core"

Developed to deliver steady and accurate speed-related data, the OEM 5221641 Sensor GP-SP fits Caterpillar C12 and 3512 engines. This sensor monitors rotational movement and sends essential feedback to the engine control system, helping maintain proper timing and smooth overall operation. Its OEM-grade construction ensures precise fitment, dependable signal clarity, and durability under high-heat and high-vibration conditions. When symptoms such as erratic readings, timing irregularities, or speed-related diagnostic codes appear, this sensor serves as a reliable replacement option. Manufactured with robust materials and exact engineering, it supports consistent performance across all compatible Caterpillar C12 and 3512 applications.

The Caterpillar Sensor GP-SP (OEM 5221641) is a speed/position-type sensor commonly used on engines such as the C12 and 3512. It monitors engine speed or component position by reading rotational movement from a tone wheel or gear. To perform this task reliably, the sensor is built from several precision components designed to withstand heat, vibration, and harsh operating conditions.

Key Components of the Sensor GP-SP

  • Magnetic Pickup / Sensing Core
    • The heart of the sensor. This magnetic element detects changes in the magnetic field created by rotating teeth or notches on a gear. Each passing tooth generates a signal used to calculate speed or position.
  • Coil Windings
    • Copper windings inside the sensor convert magnetic pulses into electrical signals. These signals travel to the engine control module for interpretation.
  • Sensor Housing
    • A durable metal or composite shell that protects internal electronics. The housing is designed to resist vibration, corrosion, and extreme temperatures found in industrial and heavy-duty engines.
  • Mounting Thread or Flange
    • Allows the sensor to be securely installed close to the rotating gear. Proper placement ensures accurate readings and prevents mechanical interference.
  • Electrical Connector
    • A sealed plug that attaches to the wiring harness. It ensures strong, clean signal transmission and protects the sensor from moisture and contaminants.
  • Internal Insulation & Seals
    • Heat-resistant insulation protects internal wiring, while seals prevent oil, dust, and moisture from entering the sensor and interfering with its function.

Every part of the Sensor GP-SP contributes to accurate engine monitoring. If the magnetic core, wiring, or connector fails, the engine may experience poor idle, starting issues, false fault codes, or complete loss of speed/position feedback. Reliable sensor construction ensures Caterpillar engines like the C12 and 3512 run smoothly and maintain proper timing and control.

The Sensor GP-SP plays an important role in monitoring system pressure and sending accurate data to your engine’s control module. Because it works in a demanding environment, taking steps to protect it can significantly extend its lifespan and reduce the chance of unexpected failures.

Proper care starts with maintaining clean, stable operating conditions. Dirt, moisture, and extreme temperatures can all shorten the life of a pressure sensor, so staying ahead of maintenance is essential.

Ways to prolong the life of your Sensor GP-SP include:

  • Keep connectors clean and dry to prevent corrosion or signal issues
  • Inspect wiring regularly for loose pins, damaged insulation, or wear
  • Replace filters on schedule to avoid pressure spikes that strain the sensor
  • Use high-quality fluids to reduce contamination in the system
  • Remove buildup around the sensor to ensure accurate readings
  • Monitor diagnostic data during routine service to detect early irregularities

If your equipment operates in harsh environments, more frequent inspections may be necessary. A clean electrical connection and stable pressure environment help the GP-SP sensor deliver reliable data for a much longer period.

Consistent maintenance is the simplest and most effective way to protect this sensor and avoid unexpected downtime.

It monitors rotational speed or position of a targeted engine component to support precise ECM timing control.

You may notice hard starting, erratic engine timing, or intermittent stalling.

It is positioned near a tone wheel or rotating shaft where it can read movement directly.

It provides real-time rotational data that helps the ECM synchronize fuel delivery with crank or cam movement.
