When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The customer, or parts buyer, is responsible for any shipping costs associated with core returns unless otherwise specified in the product listing/detail page. Tamerx Diesel Products offers prepaid UPS shipping labels (SKU numbers UPS-CR1 and UPS-CR2) for use in returning your core that are available for purchase on our website during your shopping/order process.

The shipping label you will need to use for the core return is dependent upon what part you are purchasing. UPS-CR1 is good for cores weighing up to 20 pounds. UPS-CR2 is appropriate for shipping cores weighing 21 pounds or more. You must include enough information with the core return that clearly identifies it as a.) a Core Return, and b.) contains enough information we can use to clearly associate the core return with your order. Including a copy of the invoice or packing slip that came with the original shipment, clearly marked "Core Return", is ideal. Alternately, you can include a note marked as "Core Return" that includes your order number, full name and address, and phone number or other contact information. Failure to include this information with your returned core will most likely delay any due core credit being issued and/or delay any applicable warranty activation. Core returns need to be for the exact part purchased and cannot be damaged. Substituting another part in place of the part you have purchased is not acceptable.

All fluids must be drained.

If you have purchased a set or a parts package, you will need to return cores for all components of the set. For example, if you have purchaed a high pressure oil pump with an IPR valve, you will need to return both HPOP and IPR valve cores to receive proper credit. If you have purchased an EGR cooler/EGR valve package, your core return must consist of an EGR cooler core and an EGR valve core, or core credit will not be given.

Core Charges are often mandated by state legislature, and, as such, the actual core charge and taxes on the charge may vary depending on the state in which you buy your part. The Tamerx Diesel Products core charge presented to you online today with your item is representative of the most common core charge.

In the realm of heavy-duty vehicle engines, the Volvo D13 stands tall as a powerhouse renowned for its reliability and efficiency. An integral part of this engine's emission control system is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler, specifically the OEM 85136428 provided by Tamerx. Let's delve into the significance, functionality, and impact of this crucial component.

  • Evolution of EGR Systems:
    • The EGR system within diesel engines aims to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by recycling a portion of exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber. This process helps lower combustion temperatures, curbing the formation of harmful emissions.

  • The Role of the EGR Cooler:
    • Critical to this process is the EGR cooler, which cools the recirculated exhaust gasses before reintroducing them into the engine. This cooling function is essential for maintaining engine efficiency and preventing excessive heat that could lead to engine damage or reduced functionality.

  • Understanding the Volvo D13 EGR Cooler (OEM 85136428):
    • Tailored for the Volvo D13 engine model years 2008-2018, the OEM 85136428 EGR cooler from Tamerx is crafted meticulously with high-quality materials. This component plays a pivotal role in ensuring the engine's optimal functionality within the emission control system.

  • Significance of OEM Components:
    • Choosing OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts like the 85136428 EGR cooler guarantees compatibility and adherence to Volvo's stringent quality standards. Tamerx, a reputable provider, offers reliability and assurance in maintaining the engine's functionality through their OEM parts.

  • Maintenance and Replacement:
    • EGR coolers, like other engine components, endure wear and tear over time due to exposure to heat and exhaust gasses. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of the EGR cooler are crucial to prevent potential issues such as clogging, leaks, or reduced efficiency.

  • Impact on Engine Operation:
    • The efficient operation of the EGR cooler significantly impacts the overall engine functionality. A malfunctioning or damaged EGR cooler can lead to reduced fuel efficiency, increased emissions, and potential engine issues, affecting the vehicle's reliability and compliance with emission standards.

Within the complex mechanics of a diesel engine, the Volvo D13 EGR cooler (OEM 85136428) from Tamerx serves as a vital component, ensuring compliance with emission regulations and maintaining optimal engine functionality. Its role in controlling exhaust gas recirculation underscores its significance in sustaining a balanced and efficient engine operation.

Investing in quality OEM parts like the 85136428 EGR cooler not only ensures the engine's longevity but also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing harmful emissions. As a fundamental element in the functionality and compliance of heavy-duty vehicles, this component plays a crucial role in the engine's operation and emission control system.

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler is an essential part of your vehicle's engine system. It works by recirculating the exhaust gasses back into the engine, which helps to reduce the amount of harmful emissions produced. However, like any other component of your vehicle, the EGR cooler can malfunction and cause problems. In this article, we will discuss the symptoms of a bad EGR cooler, so you can identify the issue and get it fixed before it causes further damage to your vehicle.

  • Reduced Engine Performance
    • One of the most common symptoms of a bad EGR cooler is reduced engine performance. If your engine is not performing as well as it used to, it could be due to a clogged or damaged EGR cooler. This is because a bad EGR cooler can lead to a decrease in the amount of oxygen available for combustion, which can cause the engine to run poorly.
  • Rough Idle
    • Another symptom of a bad EGR cooler is a rough idle. If you notice that your engine is idling roughly or stalling, it could be due to a malfunctioning EGR cooler. This is because a bad EGR cooler can cause a decrease in the amount of air available for combustion, which can cause the engine to run poorly at low speeds.
  • Engine Overheating
    • A bad EGR cooler can also cause your engine to overheat. This is because a malfunctioning EGR cooler can cause the engine to run hotter than it should, which can result in overheating. If you notice that your engine is running hot or overheating, it is important to get it checked out by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.
  • Increased Emissions
    • The EGR cooler is designed to reduce the amount of harmful emissions produced by your vehicle. If your EGR cooler is not functioning properly, it can lead to an increase in emissions. This can result in your vehicle failing emissions tests or being fined for excessive emissions.
  • Check Engine Light
    • Finally, a bad EGR cooler can cause the check engine light to come on. If you notice that the check engine light is illuminated on your dashboard, it could be due to a malfunctioning EGR cooler. It is important to get your vehicle checked out by a professional mechanic as soon as possible to avoid further damage to your engine.

In conclusion, a bad EGR cooler can cause a range of problems for your vehicle, from reduced engine performance to increased emissions. If you notice any of the symptoms listed above, it is important to get your vehicle checked out by a professional mechanic as soon as possible. By identifying and fixing the issue early, you can avoid further damage to your engine and ensure that your vehicle is running smoothly and efficiently.
