The terms, conditions, and details of our warranty vary from product to product. Specific warranty details can be found below.
Tamerx provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.
Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".
If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). Be sure to have your order number and/or other relevant order information ready so we can easily locate your order and resolve your issue as quickly as possible. From that point, we will review with you any troubleshooting steps that may need to be taken and other areas or systems that can be checked to rule out external problems contributing to your part's issue. As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

Excessive fuel pressure can place unnecessary stress on high-pressure fuel-system components, making controlled pressure relief an important part of common-rail operation. The Cummins ISB Fuel Pressure Relief Control Valve 2003-2020: OEM 4938005 provides a pressure-release function that helps prevent fuel rail pressure from rising beyond the system’s intended operating range.
- OEM 4938005 is intended for compatible 2003-2020 Cummins ISB diesel applications.
- Responds to excessive fuel pressure by providing a controlled relief path when pressure reaches the valve’s operating threshold.
- Helps protect the fuel rail and related high-pressure components from unnecessary pressure stress.
- Precision valve mechanism supports dependable opening and closing as fuel-system pressure changes.
- Secure sealing surfaces help the valve remain closed during normal pressure conditions.
- Compact construction allows the pressure-relief function to be integrated directly into the common-rail fuel system.
- Durable metal components are suited for continuous exposure to pressurized diesel fuel and normal engine vibration.
- Application-specific fitment provides the correct mounting and connection configuration for compatible Cummins ISB fuel systems.
The Cummins ISB Fuel Pressure Relief Control Valve OEM 4938005 serves as an important safeguard for controlling excessive pressure within the high-pressure fuel system. Customers searching for a Cummins ISB fuel pressure relief valve, fuel rail pressure relief valve, common rail pressure control valve, diesel fuel pressure valve, or OEM 4938005 replacement can use this application-specific component to restore the intended pressure-relief function.
Unstable or low fuel rail pressure can occur when a faulty Fuel Pressure Relief Control Valve allows fuel pressure to escape when it should remain regulated. If the valve sticks open, leaks internally, or fails to seal correctly, the fuel system may struggle to maintain the pressure required for starting and normal engine operation.
-
Internal leakage: A worn or damaged valve may allow excessive fuel to return from the rail, reducing available pressure.
-
Valve stuck open: Contamination, deposits, or mechanical wear can prevent the valve from closing properly.
-
Hard starting: Insufficient rail pressure during cranking may cause extended cranking or a no-start condition.
-
Loss of engine power: Low fuel pressure can limit the amount of fuel available when engine demand increases.
-
Rough engine operation: Inconsistent rail pressure may contribute to hesitation, unstable idling, or poor acceleration.
-
Fuel pressure fault codes: The ECM may detect a difference between commanded and actual rail pressure and store related diagnostic trouble codes.
-
Contaminated fuel: Dirt, water, or metal particles can damage the valve or interfere with its ability to seal correctly.
A faulty Fuel Pressure Relief Control Valve can cause low fuel rail pressure, but other components may create similar symptoms. Comparing commanded and actual rail pressure while checking the high-pressure pump, Fuel Injectors, filters, pressure sensor, and fuel supply system can help identify the actual cause.
Internal wear, contamination, damage, or repeated exposure to excessive rail pressure can affect the valve's ability to remain closed until the correct pressure is reached.
Fuel rail pressure may rise beyond the intended limit. This can trigger high-pressure fault codes and place additional stress on high-pressure fuel-system components.
A technician can measure fuel return from the relief valve using the appropriate diagnostic procedure and equipment. Excessive return flow can indicate that the valve is leaking when it should be sealing.
The engine requires higher fuel delivery under load. A relief valve that leaks prematurely may prevent actual rail pressure from keeping up with commanded pressure as fuel demand rises.
