The terms, conditions, and details of our warranty vary from product to product. Specific warranty details can be found below.
Tamerx provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.
Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".
If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). Be sure to have your order number and/or other relevant order information ready so we can easily locate your order and resolve your issue as quickly as possible. From that point, we will review with you any troubleshooting steps that may need to be taken and other areas or systems that can be checked to rule out external problems contributing to your part's issue. If a replacement is determined to be necessary, we will then arrange for your replacement part to ship out ASAP and issue any necessary return shipping labels and/or documents.
As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.
"This Product Doesn't Have a Core"

The Cummins QSX15, X15 Temp Sensor 2025-2027: OEM 5654181 is an important monitoring component that helps the engine and aftertreatment control systems track temperature during operation. Accurate temperature information allows the electronic controls to make appropriate decisions based on current engine and exhaust conditions.
Modern Cummins diesel systems depend heavily on sensor data, making a properly functioning temperature sensor essential for maintaining correct system operation.
Why Is the Temp Sensor Important?
- Monitors temperature conditions
- The sensor continuously measures temperature at its installed location and sends that information to the control system.
- Provides critical operating data
- Accurate readings allow the electronic controls to determine whether temperatures are within the expected range.
- Supports aftertreatment operation
- Temperature information can be used to manage exhaust treatment processes and determine whether proper operating conditions are present.
- Helps manage regeneration
- On applicable systems, accurate exhaust temperature readings are important for monitoring and controlling DPF regeneration.
- Helps protect components
- Detecting abnormal temperatures allows the control system to recognize conditions that could place additional stress on engine or aftertreatment components.
- Supports system diagnostics
- Unexpected temperature readings can help identify problems involving sensors, exhaust treatment, combustion, or related components.
Accurate Temperature Data Matters
The Cummins QSX15, X15 Temp Sensor (OEM 5654181) is important because the control system relies on accurate temperature information to monitor and manage critical operating processes. A faulty sensor may provide incorrect readings and contribute to warning lights, regeneration problems, aftertreatment fault codes, or incorrect system responses.
Inspecting wiring and connectors, addressing exhaust-system issues promptly, and investigating temperature-related fault codes early can help maintain reliable sensor operation.
If a Temp Sensor fails while you are driving, the vehicle may display a warning light, fault code, abnormal temperature reading, or aftertreatment system alert. What you should do next depends on the type of sensor and whether the engine is showing signs of overheating or other serious problems.
Here are the appropriate steps to take:
- Pay attention to warning lights
- Check the dashboard for engine, temperature, or emissions warnings. Do not ignore a warning that appears suddenly.
- Watch for signs of overheating
- If the temperature gauge rises significantly, you see steam, or you smell coolant, safely pull over and shut the engine off.
- Avoid heavy engine loads
- Until the problem is diagnosed, avoid towing, heavy acceleration, or other demanding operation that may generate additional heat.
- Do not rely solely on the temperature reading
- A failed sensor can provide inaccurate information. An unusually high or low reading does not always represent the engine's actual temperature.
- Scan for diagnostic trouble codes
- Fault codes can help identify which temperature sensor or circuit is causing the problem.
- Inspect the wiring and connector
- Loose connections, damaged wiring, corrosion, or heat damage can sometimes cause symptoms that resemble sensor failure.
- Have the sensor tested
- Proper testing can determine whether the sensor itself has failed or whether the problem originates elsewhere in the circuit.
- Replace the sensor when failure is confirmed
- A faulty sensor should be replaced with the correct component for the engine or aftertreatment system.
If the engine is overheating, entering derate, producing unusual smoke, or displaying a critical warning, stop driving and arrange for inspection. If the vehicle otherwise operates normally, drive only as necessary to reach a safe location or repair facility and have the Temp Sensor problem diagnosed promptly.
Yes, excessive deposits around the sensing area can expose the 5654181 to abnormal conditions and may interfere with accurate temperature monitoring.
Yes, prolonged exposure to temperatures beyond normal system conditions can damage the sensing element, wiring, connector, or other components of the 5654181.
Checking the mounting location for damaged threads, deposits, contamination, or physical damage helps ensure that the replacement 5654181 can be installed correctly.
Yes, an exhaust leak near the sensor location can alter local temperature conditions and contribute to readings that do not accurately represent normal exhaust operation.
