As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The Cummins NOx Sensor (OEM 6304162) is a vital component in the emissions system, responsible for monitoring nitrogen oxide levels in the exhaust. It sends this data to the engine control module (ECM), helping regulate the aftertreatment process. Because it operates in a high-heat and high-contaminant environment, proper care is essential to extend its lifespan.
Maintaining both the sensor and the systems around it can significantly improve its durability.
Tips to Extend the Life of Your Cummins NOx Sensor
- Keep the aftertreatment system in good condition
- A properly functioning DOC, DPF, and SCR system helps prevent contamination that can affect sensor accuracy.
- Use high-quality diesel exhaust fluid (DEF)
- Clean DEF helps maintain proper chemical reactions and reduces the risk of residue buildup.
- Inspect wiring and connectors regularly
- Ensure connections are secure and free from corrosion or damage that could interrupt signals.
- Address fault codes immediately
- Early diagnosis of NOx-related issues can prevent further damage to the sensor and surrounding components.
- Avoid excessive soot buildup
- Keeping the engine well-maintained helps reduce contaminants in the exhaust stream.
Taking care of the Cummins NOx Sensor OEM 6304162 helps ensure accurate emissions monitoring and supports the overall function of the aftertreatment system. Regular inspections, clean system components, and prompt attention to issues can help extend the service life of this important sensor.
A NOx sensor is responsible for measuring nitrogen oxide levels in the exhaust system and helping the engine adjust emissions control processes. When the sensor starts to fail, it can disrupt how the vehicle manages emissions and trigger noticeable issues.
One of the earliest signs is usually a warning light on the dashboard. Because the NOx sensor feeds data to the engine control system, faults are often detected quickly.
Common signs of a failing NOx sensor include:
- Check engine or emissions warning light
- turning on
- Incorrect sensor readings
- leading to improper system adjustments
- Increased fuel consumption
- due to inaccurate data
- Diagnostic trouble codes
- related to the NOx or emissions system
- Excessive exhaust emissions
- from poor regulation
Drivers may also notice that the vehicle is not operating as efficiently as usual. Since the NOx sensor plays a role in emissions control, incorrect readings can affect how the engine manages fuel and exhaust treatment.
If these symptoms appear, it’s best to perform a diagnostic scan and inspect the sensor and related components. Early detection can help prevent further issues within the emissions system and restore proper operation.
Cummins NOx sensor OEM 6304162 measures nitrogen oxide levels in the exhaust stream.
The emissions control system and engine control module rely on this sensor for accurate exhaust data.
The sensor transmits electronic data that reflects real-time nitrogen oxide concentrations.
It helps regulate the SCR process by providing feedback on emissions levels before and after treatment.
