Tamerx Diesel Products provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.
Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".
If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). Be sure to have your order number and/or other relevant order information ready so we can easily locate your order and resolve your issue as quickly as possible. From that point, we will review with you any troubleshooting steps that may need to be taken and other areas or systems that can be checked to rule out external problems contributing to your part's issue. As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The Cummins X15 V-Band Clamp (OEM 5304849) is a small but essential hardware component that keeps the exhaust system properly connected and sealed. Built for engines from 2011 to 2024, it plays a structural role by fastening critical exhaust sections together so the system can operate without interruption.
Unlike traditional fasteners, a V-band clamp uses a circular design that wraps around two flanged components. Once tightened, it pulls those parts together evenly, forming a tight connection that can handle constant vibration and thermal expansion.
Its primary functions include:
- Holds exhaust joints firmly in place
- The clamp locks adjoining components together, preventing separation during engine operation, even under demanding conditions.
- Prevents exhaust leaks at connection points
- By compressing the flanges evenly, it helps contain exhaust gases within the system, avoiding loss of pressure or unwanted emissions escape.
- Accommodates expansion from heat cycles
- Exhaust systems regularly expand and contract due to temperature changes, and the clamp is designed to maintain a consistent hold throughout these cycles.
- Simplifies disassembly during servicing
- Its design allows technicians to quickly loosen and remove connections when inspecting or replacing exhaust components.
- Provides consistent clamping force around the joint
- The uniform pressure reduces uneven wear and helps maintain a stable connection over time.
Overall, the Cummins 5304849 V-band clamp functions as a precision fastening solution, ensuring exhaust components stay securely joined while allowing flexibility for maintenance and long-term use.
V-Band clamps are designed to create a secure, leak-free seal between exhaust components, but they can fail when exposed to the wrong conditions. The most common cause of failure is improper installation, often combined with heat and vibration that weaken the clamp over time.
When a clamp isn’t tightened correctly or components aren’t aligned, it creates uneven stress. As the system heats and cools repeatedly, that stress can lead to loosening, distortion, or even breakage.
Several factors contribute to premature V-Band clamp failure:
- Incorrect torque during installation
- Over-tightening can stretch or deform the clamp, while under-tightening may prevent a proper seal, allowing movement and wear.
- Extreme heat cycles
- Constant heating and cooling can weaken the metal, making it more prone to fatigue and cracking over time.
- Ongoing vibration
- Engine and road vibrations can gradually loosen the clamp, especially if it wasn’t properly secured from the start.
- Material fatigue or corrosion
- Exposure to moisture, road debris, and exhaust gases can degrade the clamp, reducing its durability.
- Misaligned components
- If the connected parts aren’t properly seated, the clamp bears uneven pressure, increasing the risk of failure.
Routine inspection and correct installation practices can go a long way in preventing these issues and keeping exhaust connections secure.
It secures flanged exhaust connections between aftertreatment components.
Yes, it is commonly used to hold components together within the exhaust aftertreatment assembly.
It is typically constructed from durable metal designed for high-heat exhaust environments.
It may be reused if undamaged, but replacement is often recommended to ensure a proper seal.
