As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.
The customer, or parts buyer, is responsible for any shipping costs associated with core returns unless otherwise specified in the product listing/detail page. Tamerx Diesel Products offers prepaid UPS shipping labels (SKU numbers UPS-CR1 and UPS-CR2) for use in returning your core that are available for purchase on our website during your shopping/order process.
The shipping label you will need to use for the core return is dependent upon what part you are purchasing. UPS-CR1 is good for cores weighing up to 20 pounds. UPS-CR2 is appropriate for shipping cores weighing 21 pounds or more. You must include enough information with the core return that clearly identifies it as a.) a Core Return, and b.) contains enough information we can use to clearly associate the core return with your order. Including a copy of the invoice or packing slip that came with the original shipment, clearly marked "Core Return", is ideal. Alternately, you can include a note marked as "Core Return" that includes your order number, full name and address, and phone number or other contact information. Failure to include this information with your returned core will most likely delay any due core credit being issued and/or delay any applicable warranty activation. Core returns need to be for the exact part purchased and cannot be damaged. Substituting another part in place of the part you have purchased is not acceptable.
All fluids must be drained.
If you have purchased a set or a parts package, you will need to return cores for all components of the set. For example, if you have purchaed a high pressure oil pump with an IPR valve, you will need to return both HPOP and IPR valve cores to receive proper credit. If you have purchased an EGR cooler/EGR valve package, your core return must consist of an EGR cooler core and an EGR valve core, or core credit will not be given.
Core Charges are often mandated by state legislature, and, as such, the actual core charge and taxes on the charge may vary depending on the state in which you buy your part. The Tamerx Diesel Products core charge presented to you online today with your item is representative of the most common core charge.

The John Deere Turbo Assembly (OEM DZ102304) is a critical engine component designed for 2011–2022 John Deere engines. Its primary function is to improve the engine's airflow by using energy from the exhaust gases to compress fresh air before it enters the combustion chambers. This process helps the engine maintain efficient combustion and reliable operation under a variety of working conditions.
Rather than allowing exhaust energy to go to waste, the turbo assembly converts it into useful airflow that supports several key engine functions.
Functions of the John Deere DZ102304 Turbo Assembly
- Uses exhaust energy efficiently
- The turbo captures the force of exhaust gases to spin an internal turbine, converting wasted energy into compressed intake air.
- Supplies compressed air to the engine
- By increasing the amount of oxygen entering the cylinders, the turbo helps create ideal conditions for efficient fuel combustion.
- Adjusts airflow to engine demand
- The turbo continuously responds to changes in engine speed and workload, supplying the airflow needed for different operating conditions.
- Supports the intake and exhaust systems
- It serves as the connection between these two systems, helping maintain balanced airflow throughout the engine.
- Promotes efficient combustion
- Consistent airflow allows the engine to burn fuel more effectively, supporting smooth and dependable operation.
- Works with the engine management system
- The turbo operates alongside the engine control module (ECM) to help regulate airflow and maintain optimal engine conditions.
The John Deere DZ102304 Turbo Assembly acts as the engine's airflow control system, transforming exhaust energy into compressed intake air that keeps the engine operating efficiently. By supporting combustion, coordinating airflow, and working with the engine's control systems, it plays a vital role in maintaining reliable performance and the overall health of the engine.
Yes, a faulty turbo assembly can significantly affect engine performance. The turbocharger is responsible for supplying compressed air to the engine, and when it isn't operating correctly, the engine cannot maintain the proper air-to-fuel ratio needed for efficient combustion.
Even a minor turbo problem can reduce engine efficiency and, if left untreated, may lead to more serious mechanical issues.
Here are some of the ways a faulty turbo assembly can affect engine performance:
- Reduced acceleration
- A failing turbo may not generate enough boost pressure, causing the vehicle to feel sluggish and less responsive during acceleration.
- Loss of engine power
- Without adequate airflow, the engine cannot produce the level of output it's designed for, especially when towing, hauling, or driving uphill.
- Poor fuel efficiency
- An imbalance in the air-fuel mixture can cause the engine to consume more fuel than necessary during normal operation.
- Excessive exhaust smoke
- Damaged turbo seals or airflow restrictions can result in blue, black, or white smoke, depending on the type of failure.
- Inconsistent boost pressure
- Fluctuating boost levels can cause hesitation, uneven acceleration, and unstable engine operation.
- Check engine light and diagnostic trouble codes
- The engine control module may detect boost pressure or airflow problems and trigger warning lights or turbo-related fault codes.
- Increased stress on engine components
- A malfunctioning turbo can place additional strain on the engine, exhaust system, and aftertreatment components, increasing the risk of secondary damage over time.
Addressing turbo assembly issues early can help restore proper engine operation and prevent more extensive repairs. If you notice symptoms such as unusual noises, excessive smoke, reduced acceleration, or recurring boost-related fault codes, having the turbo system inspected promptly is the best way to protect your engine and maintain reliable performance.
The DZ102304 is commonly used on compatible John Deere harvesting equipment and industrial applications equipped with approved engine configurations. Equipment compatibility should always be verified using the machine's serial number.
Yes. The DZ102304 turbo assembly is equipped with an integrated 24-volt electronic actuator that communicates with the engine control system to regulate turbocharger operation.
The turbocharger mounts directly to the engine's exhaust manifold and connects to both the intake and exhaust systems to compress incoming air before it enters the engine.
The electronic actuator adjusts the turbocharger based on engine operating conditions, helping manage airflow throughout different engine speeds and load demands.
