The terms, conditions, and details of our warranty vary from product to product. Specific warranty details can be found below.

Tamerx Diesel Products provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.

Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".

If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). Be sure to have your order number and/or other relevant order information ready so we can easily locate your order and resolve your issue as quickly as possible. From that point, we will review with you any troubleshooting steps that may need to be taken and other areas or systems that can be checked to rule out external problems contributing to your part's issue. If a replacement is determined to be necessary, we will then arrange for your replacement part to ship out ASAP and issue any necessary return shipping labels and/or documents.

As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

"This Product Doesn't Have a Core"

Designed for Caterpillar engines from model years 2018–2024, OEM 485-9752 is a DEF doser injector engineered to deliver precise doses of Diesel Exhaust Fluid into the exhaust aftertreatment system. This component is manufactured to OEM specifications to ensure proper fitment and compatibility with factory SCR and dosing system assemblies. Constructed from durable materials, it is built to withstand the operating conditions common in modern diesel applications. The doser injector supports accurate DEF delivery to help the aftertreatment system maintain emissions control effectiveness. It is a dependable option for fleet maintenance and targeted repair needs requiring reliable aftertreatment system operation.

The Caterpillar DEF Doser Injector 2018–2024: OEM 485-9752 is important because it plays a direct role in controlling exhaust emissions in Caterpillar engines equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. Without a properly functioning DEF doser injector, the aftertreatment system cannot effectively reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.

This component is responsible for delivering a precise amount of Diesel Exhaust Fluid into the exhaust stream. Once injected into hot exhaust gases, DEF breaks down into ammonia. That ammonia is then used inside the SCR catalyst to chemically convert NOx into nitrogen and water vapor before the exhaust exits the system.

Because emissions regulations remain strict for 2018–2024 model years, accurate DEF dosing is critical. If the injector under-delivers or over-delivers DEF, the system may trigger warning lights, fault codes, or even engine derates to protect compliance.

Key reasons OEM 485-9752 is important include:

  • Ensures accurate DEF delivery into the exhaust system
  • Supports proper NOx reduction within the SCR catalyst
  • Helps maintain EPA and regulatory compliance
  • Reduces the risk of emissions-related downtime

For fleet operators and equipment owners, maintaining a reliable DEF doser injector helps protect uptime, prevent costly interruptions, and ensure engines continue operating within required emissions standards.

The main cause of DEF doser injector failure is DEF crystallization caused by contamination or improper system operation. The DEF injector is designed to spray a precise mist of Diesel Exhaust Fluid into the exhaust stream, but when DEF becomes contaminated, overheated, or allowed to dry inside the injector, urea crystals form and restrict flow.

Crystallization most commonly occurs when:

  • DEF is contaminated with dirt, fuel, or coolant
  • Low-quality or non-ISO 22241 DEF is used
  • The vehicle experiences frequent short trips that prevent proper purge cycles
  • The injector tip is exposed to excessive exhaust heat
  • The system is not allowed to complete shutdown purge routines

When crystallization builds up, it can clog the injector nozzle, distort the spray pattern, or cause the injector to stick open or closed. A restricted injector leads to under-dosing and SCR efficiency fault codes, while a stuck-open injector can cause over-dosing, ammonia slip, and white residue at the exhaust outlet.

In many cases, the injector itself is not defective from manufacturing. Instead, upstream issues such as poor DEF quality, dosing system pressure problems, or failed purge cycles lead to premature failure. Proper DEF handling, system maintenance, and timely repair of dosing or pressure faults are essential to preventing DEF doser injector failure.

Yes, it is an OEM-specified dosing injector intended for direct replacement on compatible Caterpillar DEF systems.

Yes, problems with this injector can cause emissions-related diagnostic trouble codes.

Yes, it communicates with the engine’s control module and DEF sensors to help regulate dosing.

Heavy-duty trucks, off-highway equipment, and industrial machinery with Caterpillar engines from 2018–2024 use this doser injector.
