As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The customer, or parts buyer, is responsible for any shipping costs associated with core returns unless otherwise specified in the product listing/detail page. Tamerx Diesel Products offers prepaid UPS shipping labels (SKU numbers UPS-CR1 and UPS-CR2) for use in returning your core that are available for purchase on our website during your shopping/order process.

The shipping label you will need to use for the core return is dependent upon what part you are purchasing. UPS-CR1 is good for cores weighing up to 20 pounds. UPS-CR2 is appropriate for shipping cores weighing 21 pounds or more. You must include enough information with the core return that clearly identifies it as a.) a Core Return, and b.) contains enough information we can use to clearly associate the core return with your order. Including a copy of the invoice or packing slip that came with the original shipment, clearly marked "Core Return", is ideal. Alternately, you can include a note marked as "Core Return" that includes your order number, full name and address, and phone number or other contact information. Failure to include this information with your returned core will most likely delay any due core credit being issued and/or delay any applicable warranty activation. Core returns need to be for the exact part purchased and cannot be damaged. Substituting another part in place of the part you have purchased is not acceptable.

All fluids must be drained.

If you have purchased a set or a parts package, you will need to return cores for all components of the set. For example, if you have purchaed a high pressure oil pump with an IPR valve, you will need to return both HPOP and IPR valve cores to receive proper credit. If you have purchased an EGR cooler/EGR valve package, your core return must consist of an EGR cooler core and an EGR valve core, or core credit will not be given.

Core Charges are often mandated by state legislature, and, as such, the actual core charge and taxes on the charge may vary depending on the state in which you buy your part. The Tamerx Diesel Products core charge presented to you online today with your item is representative of the most common core charge.

Taking proper care of your Cummins B6.7 DOC Filter 2022-2026: OEM 5515595 is important for maintaining effective exhaust treatment and supporting the operation of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). As part of the diesel aftertreatment system, the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) helps reduce carbon monoxide (CO) and unburned hydrocarbon (HC) emissions while supporting the exhaust temperatures needed for DPF regeneration.

Proper maintenance helps protect the catalyst from contamination, excessive deposits, and damage that could interfere with exhaust treatment and downstream aftertreatment components.

How Can You Properly Maintain Your DOC Filter?

  • Follow recommended engine maintenance intervals Regular oil changes, fuel system inspections, and air filter replacements help maintain proper combustion and reduce the risk of catalyst contamination.
  • Use the correct engine oil Always use engine oil that meets Cummins specifications to help minimize ash deposits and protect the catalyst from premature contamination.
  • Maintain the fuel injection system Inspect fuel injectors and address improper fuel delivery promptly to prevent excessive unburned fuel from entering the exhaust system.
  • Monitor DPF regeneration cycles Pay attention to frequent, incomplete, or unsuccessful regeneration events, as these may indicate problems with the DOC or related aftertreatment components.
  • Inspect the exhaust system for leaks Check exhaust pipes, clamps, and connections for damage or leakage that could affect exhaust temperatures and proper aftertreatment operation.
  • Check exhaust temperature sensors Properly functioning sensors help the electronic control system monitor exhaust temperatures and manage regeneration processes.
  • Address emissions warning lights promptly Investigate aftertreatment fault codes, regeneration warnings, or unusual exhaust conditions before they lead to additional system problems.
  • Avoid improper cleaning methods Do not use unapproved chemicals, pressure washing, or abrasive cleaning techniques that could damage the catalyst's internal structure or coating.

Protecting Your DOC Filter for Long-Term Use

The Cummins B6.7 DOC Filter (OEM 5515595) plays an important role in reducing exhaust pollutants and supporting proper DPF regeneration. If the catalyst becomes contaminated, damaged, restricted, or inefficient, it may contribute to incomplete regeneration, excessive soot accumulation, emissions warning lights, or aftertreatment fault codes.

Following recommended maintenance procedures, using specification-correct fluids, and addressing fuel, exhaust, or sensor-related problems promptly can help extend the DOC filter's service life and maintain reliable exhaust treatment.

A Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) Filter is an essential component of a diesel engine's aftertreatment system. It helps reduce harmful exhaust emissions by converting carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons into less harmful substances. When the DOC Filter becomes clogged, contaminated, or damaged, it can interfere with normal exhaust treatment and cause engine operating problems.

Here are several signs that your DOC Filter may be failing:

  • Check engine or emissions warning light The engine control system may detect abnormal aftertreatment conditions and activate warning lights on the dashboard.
  • Frequent regeneration problems A failing DOC Filter may prevent the exhaust system from reaching the temperatures required for proper DPF regeneration.
  • Excessive exhaust backpressure A severely restricted DOC Filter can interfere with exhaust flow and cause sluggish acceleration or other engine operating problems.
  • Recurring diagnostic trouble codes Repeated fault codes related to catalyst efficiency, exhaust temperatures, or regeneration problems may indicate a DOC Filter issue.
  • Abnormal exhaust temperatures A deteriorating DOC Filter may not produce the expected temperature increase during active regeneration.
  • Increased exhaust smoke Excessive smoke may indicate incomplete combustion, oil contamination, or other problems affecting the DOC Filter and related components.
  • Unusual exhaust odors A damaged or ineffective DOC Filter may allow more unburned hydrocarbons to pass through the exhaust system, creating noticeable odors.
  • Engine derate Persistent aftertreatment faults may cause the engine control system to limit vehicle speed or engine output.
  • Physical catalyst damage Cracked, melted, broken, or heavily contaminated catalyst material can indicate that the DOC Filter is no longer functioning correctly.

These symptoms do not automatically confirm that the DOC Filter needs replacement. Faulty temperature sensors, fuel system problems, exhaust leaks, DPF restrictions, and oil or coolant contamination can produce similar warning signs. A complete aftertreatment system inspection can help determine whether the DOC Filter requires cleaning, servicing, or replacement.

Engine oil entering the exhaust stream can leave deposits on the catalyst substrate and interfere with the oxidation reactions inside the 5515595.

Yes, coolant entering the exhaust system can contaminate the catalyst surface and leave deposits that interfere with normal DOC operation.

Yes, a damaged or chemically deteriorated 5515595 may reduce the heat-generating oxidation activity needed for certain DPF regeneration conditions.

Faulty exhaust temperature sensors can provide inaccurate readings that interfere with aftertreatment monitoring and may resemble DOC-related problems.
