As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.
The customer, or parts buyer, is responsible for any shipping costs associated with core returns unless otherwise specified in the product listing/detail page. Tamerx Diesel Products offers prepaid UPS shipping labels (SKU numbers UPS-CR1 and UPS-CR2) for use in returning your core that are available for purchase on our website during your shopping/order process.
The shipping label you will need to use for the core return is dependent upon what part you are purchasing. UPS-CR1 is good for cores weighing up to 20 pounds. UPS-CR2 is appropriate for shipping cores weighing 21 pounds or more. You must include enough information with the core return that clearly identifies it as a.) a Core Return, and b.) contains enough information we can use to clearly associate the core return with your order. Including a copy of the invoice or packing slip that came with the original shipment, clearly marked "Core Return", is ideal. Alternately, you can include a note marked as "Core Return" that includes your order number, full name and address, and phone number or other contact information. Failure to include this information with your returned core will most likely delay any due core credit being issued and/or delay any applicable warranty activation. Core returns need to be for the exact part purchased and cannot be damaged. Substituting another part in place of the part you have purchased is not acceptable.
All fluids must be drained.
If you have purchased a set or a parts package, you will need to return cores for all components of the set. For example, if you have purchaed a high pressure oil pump with an IPR valve, you will need to return both HPOP and IPR valve cores to receive proper credit. If you have purchased an EGR cooler/EGR valve package, your core return must consist of an EGR cooler core and an EGR valve core, or core credit will not be given.
Core Charges are often mandated by state legislature, and, as such, the actual core charge and taxes on the charge may vary depending on the state in which you buy your part. The Tamerx Diesel Products core charge presented to you online today with your item is representative of the most common core charge.

The Cummins QSB 4.5L / ISB SCR Outlet Catalyst Module (OEM 5507015) performs several important functions within the engine's aftertreatment system. Designed for 2011–2020 applications, it is positioned at the outlet section of the SCR system, where it helps manage the flow of treated exhaust gases after the emissions reduction process has taken place.
Rather than filtering soot or injecting Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), this module supports the final stage of exhaust treatment and helps ensure the entire emissions system operates efficiently.
Functions of the Cummins 5507015 SCR Outlet Catalyst Module
- Directs treated exhaust gases
- The module provides a controlled pathway for exhaust gases after they have passed through the SCR catalyst.
- Supports the SCR emissions process
- It works with the SCR catalyst to help complete the reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions before the exhaust exits the system.
- Maintains proper exhaust flow
- A smooth and unrestricted flow of exhaust gases helps the aftertreatment system perform efficiently.
- Works with other aftertreatment components
- It functions alongside the DEF dosing system, SCR catalyst, sensors, and other emissions-control components to complete the exhaust treatment process.
- Helps maintain stable operating conditions
- Proper exhaust flow and temperature management support consistent operation throughout the aftertreatment system.
- Contributes to emissions compliance
- By supporting the final stage of emissions treatment, the module helps the engine meet required environmental standards.
Think of the Cummins 5507015 SCR Outlet Catalyst Module as the final guide for cleaned exhaust gases. After the SCR system has converted harmful emissions into safer compounds, this module helps ensure those treated gases flow smoothly out of the aftertreatment system, supporting efficient emissions control and reliable engine operation.
A failing SCR outlet catalyst module can reduce the effectiveness of your emissions system and lead to recurring fault codes, engine derates, or failed emissions inspections. Since this component works with the SCR system to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, it's important to diagnose the issue before it causes additional problems.
The first step is to determine whether the catalyst module itself has failed or if another component in the SCR system is causing the problem.
Here are the steps you should take:
- Perform a complete diagnostic scan
- Check for active and stored fault codes related to the SCR system, NOx sensors, DEF dosing system, and catalyst efficiency. This helps identify whether the issue is isolated to the outlet catalyst module or another component.
- Inspect the DEF system
- Verify that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid is clean, uncontaminated, and being injected correctly. Poor DEF quality or improper dosing can reduce catalyst efficiency.
- Check NOx sensors and temperature sensors
- Faulty sensors can provide inaccurate data, making it appear that the catalyst module has failed when the problem lies elsewhere.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks or damage
- Exhaust leaks, damaged pipes, or loose connections can affect SCR performance and trigger catalyst-related fault codes.
- Look for contamination or overheating
- Excessive soot, oil contamination, or prolonged exposure to high temperatures can permanently damage the catalyst material and reduce its effectiveness.
- Evaluate the entire aftertreatment system
- Components such as the DOC, DPF, DEF injector, and decomposition reactor should also be inspected since problems in these areas can affect the SCR outlet catalyst module.
- Replace the SCR outlet catalyst module if necessary
- If diagnostic testing confirms that the catalyst material is no longer functioning properly or the module has sustained internal damage, replacement is typically the most reliable solution.
Addressing SCR outlet catalyst module issues early can help restore proper emissions control, prevent recurring fault codes, and reduce the risk of engine derates or additional aftertreatment system repairs.
Yes. The outlet catalyst module contains catalyst elements engineered to support the final stages of the exhaust treatment process before the gases leave the system.
It is commonly used on construction equipment, agricultural machinery, generators, material handling equipment, and other industrial machines powered by compatible Cummins QSB 4.5L and ISB engines.
By maintaining proper exhaust flow after the SCR catalyst, the module helps the entire aftertreatment system operate as designed and supports effective emissions reduction.
A restricted outlet catalyst module can increase exhaust backpressure, reduce aftertreatment efficiency, and contribute to emissions-related diagnostic faults.
