SHIPPING POLICY

Tamerx Diesel Products ships via UPS Ground. Next day air shipping can be arranged for a reasonable price of anywhere from $50.00 - $100.00 depending on the weight of the product and your location. We will do everything we can to make sure that you get the service you need. We understand how important it is to receive your order as quickly as possible.
In most cases Tamerx Diesel Products only needs one address, as long as your product is shipping to the same location as your billing information. In order to eliminate credit card fraud, your billing information must match the credit card you provide.

The terms, conditions, and details of our warranty vary from product to product. Specific warranty details can be found below.

Tamerx Diesel Products provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.

Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".

If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). Be sure to have your order number and/or other relevant order information ready so we can easily locate your order and resolve your issue as quickly as possible. From that point, we will review with you any troubleshooting steps that may need to be taken and other areas or systems that can be checked to rule out external problems contributing to your part's issue. If a replacement is determined to be necessary, we will then arrange for your replacement part to ship out ASAP and issue any necessary return shipping labels and/or documents.

As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

Designed to support efficient aftertreatment operation, the Cummins X12 Decomposition Reactor Tube (2022–2026) OEM 5508975 is a critical component within the SCR system. Manufactured to meet original equipment specifications, it ensures precise compatibility with Cummins X12 engines, particularly EPA21 configurations. This reactor tube facilitates the breakdown of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), allowing proper conversion into ammonia for effective nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction. The decomposition reactor also serves as a mixing chamber, helping distribute gases evenly before reaching the SCR catalyst. Built from durable, high-quality materials, it is engineered to withstand high temperatures and demanding diesel environments. Ideal for technicians and fleet maintenance professionals, this OEM component supports consistent emissions system function and long-term reliability.

The Cummins X12 Decomposition Reactor Tube (OEM 5508975) plays a very specific role within the engine’s aftertreatment system—it acts as the transition point where Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is prepared before emissions are fully treated downstream.

Installed between key exhaust components, this tube is more than just a passage—it’s where critical mixing and chemical preparation begin.

Here’s what it actually does:

  • Prepares DEF for the SCR process
    • When DEF is injected into the exhaust stream, the reactor tube helps convert it into ammonia, which is the active element needed to reduce emissions.
  • Ensures proper mixing of DEF and exhaust gases
    • Its internal design promotes even distribution, allowing DEF to blend thoroughly with hot exhaust gases.
  • Acts as a bridge within the aftertreatment system
    • It connects stages like the DPF and SCR, preparing exhaust gases before final emissions treatment occurs.
  • Supports effective NOx reduction
    • By enabling proper DEF breakdown and mixing, it allows the SCR system to convert harmful gases into safer outputs.
  • Helps prevent crystallization and deposits
    • Proper atomization reduces the risk of DEF buildup, which can lead to blockages or reduced efficiency.
  • Maintains system consistency
    • It helps create stable conditions within the exhaust flow, allowing the entire aftertreatment process to function smoothly.

In simple terms, the Cummins 5508975 decomposition reactor tube serves as the preparation stage of the emissions system—ensuring DEF is properly processed so the rest of the system can operate effectively.

A decomposition reactor tube plays a vital role in breaking down DEF into usable gases for emissions control. Because it operates under high heat and constant exposure to chemical reactions, proper care is essential to prevent premature failure.

The key to extending its lifespan is maintaining clean inputs and ensuring the system consistently reaches proper operating conditions. Small issues can quickly lead to buildup if left unaddressed.

Here are practical ways to help your decomposition reactor tube last longer:

  • Use high-quality DEF and store it properly
    • Always use DEF that meets recommended standards and keep it sealed from contaminants. Poor-quality fluid can lead to deposits inside the tube.
  • Ensure proper operating temperatures
    • The system needs sufficient heat to fully decompose DEF. Frequent short trips can prevent this, increasing the risk of residue buildup.
  • Avoid inconsistent driving patterns
    • Regular operation under stable conditions helps reduce the chances of incomplete DEF conversion and internal deposits.
  • Inspect the dosing system regularly
    • Faulty injectors can deliver DEF unevenly, leading to localized buildup and restriction within the tube.
  • Address engine and exhaust issues early
    • Problems that affect exhaust flow or temperature can interfere with proper DEF breakdown and strain the system.
  • Schedule routine inspections and cleaning
    • Checking for early signs of buildup can help prevent blockages before they become severe.

By maintaining proper conditions and staying proactive with maintenance, you can significantly extend the life of your decomposition reactor tube and keep your emissions system functioning efficiently.

The 5508975 decomposition reactor tube is responsible for converting diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) into ammonia and ensuring it is properly mixed with exhaust gases before entering the SCR system.

DEF is injected into the hot exhaust stream and thermally decomposed into ammonia, which is then carried downstream to react with nitrogen oxides.

The unit typically weighs around 84 lbs and features a robust design with dimensions suited for heavy-duty exhaust systems.

Yes, it includes a designated mounting location for the DEF dosing valve, allowing fluid to be introduced directly into the exhaust flow.
